Washco COVID-19 Office Closure to the Public
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 03-17-2020
In light of the recent Coronavirus Outbreak, and after consultation with the courthouse elected officials and department heads, it has been decided that in an effort to ensure Washington County Continuity of Operations, moving forward only employees will be allowed to enter the Courthouse, Courthouse Annex, Sheriff‘s Office, Department of Human Services and Limited contact at the Washington County Landfill. While it is understood that all interaction (necessary personnel repair and maintenance) cannot realistically be suspended, it is the intention of the County Commissioners and Elected officials, to limit this interaction in an effort to protect our employees and their families. No civilians or deliveries will be allowed to enter the building. Any deliveries will be left at the bottom of the stairs and employees will come to the door to pick them up. Should there be a need to relay any other information the same procedure will be applied. It is highly recommended that after any interaction with deliveries/civilians the employees use best practices to ensure their health and safety (i.e. wash hands immediately after interaction). Due to an increase in traffic from the front range to utilize the services within the courthouse it is a necessity to keep our staff and their families safe. The ballot box on the east side of the courthouse has been made available for any paperwork that needs attention, and will be checked on a regular basis. The courthouse offices can still be contacted through the proper phone numbers as follows (Courthouse Commissioner Office 970-345-2701) (County Assessor 970-345-6662) (County Treasurer 970-345-6601) (County Clerk and Recorder / Driver’s License 970-345-6565) (Veterans Office 970-554-0131) (Ambulance Service 970-345-2672) (County Maintenance 970-554-2364) Since this situation is evolving rapidly this policy will be evaluated continuously and modified as needed. This order is in effect beginning 03/18/2020. It is our sincere hope that everyone recognizes the intent of this policy and that in the near future the Courthouse can resume normal operating procedures and allow guests to re-enter the facility. If you have any questions regarding this change of our daily operations please feel free to reach out to us.
Sincerely,
Board of County Commissioners Elected Officials and Department Heads
